Al-Muizz li-Din Allah

Fourth Fatimid Caliph (r. 953–975) whose general Jawhar al-Siqilli conquered Egypt in 969, founded Cairo (al-Qahira) as a new dynastic capital and the al-Azhar mosque-university, and established Fatimid rule over the Maghreb, Egypt, Sicily, and the Levant, making the Ismaili Shia caliphate the dominant power in the Mediterranean Islamic world.
