Alauddin Khalji
Second sultan of the Khalji dynasty whose 1296-1316 reign brought the Delhi Sultanate to its greatest territorial extent, conquering deep into the Deccan and southern India, while imposing rigorous market-price controls and a large standing army funded by systematic land-revenue reform.
