Alexandros Soutsos

Greek Romantic poet and satirist (1803–1863) whose verse dramas and political poems championed Greek independence; his 1833 satirical poem Traveller ridiculed the Bavarian-imposed monarchy, making him a central voice in the Greek national literary revival during and after the War of Independence.
