André Masséna

Marshal of France and one of Napoleon's most gifted commanders. Commanded the French army at Aspern-Essling (1809), successfully extracting it after Napoleon's first major defeat. Victor at Zurich (1799) and defender of Genoa (1800); later commanded the Army of Portugal (1810–11).
