Andreas Vesalius

Flemish physician Andreas Vesalius (1514–1564) who founded modern human anatomy through systematic cadaver dissection at Padua; his 1543 illustrated atlas De Humani Corporis Fabrica, with woodcuts depicting the muscular and skeletal systems, overturned centuries of Galenic dogma and transformed medical education.
