Antigonus I Monophthalmos
Antigonus I Monophthalmos ('the One-Eyed') was a Macedonian general and one of the most powerful Diadochi (successors) of Alexander the Great. He served Alexander as a satrap and military commander, and after Alexander's death built a vast empire spanning Asia Minor and the Levant. His ambition to reunite Alexander's empire brought him into conflict with the other successors, and he was killed at the Battle of Ipsus in 301 BCE at around age 81.
