Aristophanes
Aristophanes was the greatest writer of ancient Greek comedy, whose surviving 11 plays are the only complete examples of Old Comedy. His works satirized Athenian politicians, intellectuals (including Socrates), and the Peloponnesian War with sharp wit and bawdy humor. Plays like The Clouds, The Birds, and Lysistrata remain among the most frequently performed comedies from antiquity.
