Athanasius of Alexandria
'Athanasius contra mundum' (Athanasius against the world) expressed his tenacious defence of the Nicene formula that Christ was of the same substance as the Father. His biographical Life of Antony helped spread Christian monasticism. His Easter letter of 367 CE is the earliest document to list the New Testament canon as we know it.
