Beatrix of the Netherlands
Beatrix was a highly respected and diligent queen who took an active role in state affairs within her constitutional limits. Her reign saw Dutch prosperity and European integration deepen. She abdicated in 2013 in favour of her son Willem-Alexander, making her the third successive Dutch queen to abdicate voluntarily.
