Boudicca
Queen of the Iceni tribe who led the revolt against Rome in 60-61 CE after her husband's death, Roman annexation of her kingdom, her own flogging, and assault on her daughters. Burned Camulodunum, Londinium, and Verulamium and killed perhaps 70,000. Defeated by Suetonius Paulinus at an unknown location. Took poison. A symbol of British national identity; her statue stands by Westminster Bridge.
