Caratacus

Son of the Catuvellaunian king Cunobelinus who resisted the Roman conquest of Britain for eight years after the Claudian invasion of 43 CE, fighting first in the southeast, then withdrawing to Wales. Betrayed to Rome by the Brigantian queen Cartimandua. Made such a dignified speech to Claudius that the emperor freed him. Lived the rest of his days in Rome.
