Cassius Longinus
Cassius Longinus was a Greek philosopher, literary critic, and rhetorician who became the chief advisor and secretary to Queen Zenobia of Palmyra. He played a key role in encouraging Zenobia's break from Rome and her proclamation as empress, and is said to have drafted many of her letters to Aurelian. When Palmyra fell in 273 CE, Aurelian spared Zenobia but executed Longinus, who reportedly met his death with composure.
