Cassivellaunus

Cassivellaunus was a British chieftain, probably king of the Catuvellauni tribe, who led the unified British resistance against Julius Caesar's second invasion of Britain in 54 BCE. Despite earlier tribal rivalries, the Britons appointed him overall commander against Caesar. He employed guerrilla tactics and chariot warfare to harass the Roman advance, but after rival tribes informed Caesar of his stronghold's location, Cassivellaunus was forced to submit and agree to pay tribute.
