Constantius I Chlorus
Constantius I Chlorus was a Roman emperor who served first as Caesar (junior emperor) under Maximian and then as Augustus (senior emperor) of the western half of the Roman Empire. He restored Roman rule over Britain by defeating the usurper Allectus in 296 CE and conducted campaigns on the Rhine frontier and in Scotland. He died at Eboracum (York) in 306 CE, and his troops immediately acclaimed his son Constantine as his successor — the act that launched Constantine's rise to sole power.
