Darius I

Darius I, known as Darius the Great, was the third King of Kings of the Achaemenid Persian Empire who reorganized the empire into satrapies and built the ceremonial capital at Persepolis. He launched the first Persian invasion of Greece, which ended with Persian defeat at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. His administrative genius transformed Persia into the largest empire the world had yet seen.
