Decius

Gaius Messius Quintus Decius (born in Pannonia) was the first emperor killed in battle by a foreign enemy. His Decian persecution demanded proof of sacrifice from all inhabitants — those who refused faced imprisonment or death. He died alongside his son at Abritus (modern Bulgaria) in a Gothic ambush.
