Demetrius of Phalerum

Demetrius of Phalerum governed Athens for ten years as Cassander's regent, instituting sumptuary laws and administrative reforms. Exiled after a political shift, he went to Ptolemaic Egypt where he advised Ptolemy I and is credited with suggesting the creation of the great Library of Alexandria.
