Dinocrates of Rhodes
Dinocrates was a Greek architect from Rhodes who served Alexander the Great and is credited with planning the city of Alexandria in Egypt in 331 BCE, reportedly impressing Alexander with a bold proposal to carve Mount Athos into a giant statue of a man holding a city in one hand and a bowl in the other. He laid out Alexandria's grid plan with its great harbor, the famous causeway to the island of Pharos, and the sites of its major public buildings. He is also associated with the rebuilding of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
