Edward VIII
King who abdicated in 1936 after only 325 days on the throne in order to marry Wallis Simpson, an American divorcée, triggering a constitutional crisis. His famous radio broadcast announced his abdication, passing the throne to his younger brother George VI. Given the title Duke of Windsor, he spent the rest of his life largely in France, his wartime behaviour raising concerns about Nazi sympathies.
