Emperor Claudius II Gothicus
Roman emperor (268-270 CE) who won the decisive Battle of Naissus against the Goths in 269 CE, killing perhaps 50,000 barbarians and earning the title 'Gothicus.' His victory gave Aurelian the stable base from which to reunify the empire. Died of plague in 270 CE. Constantine later claimed descent from him — probably falsely — for legitimacy.
