Euripides

Euripides was the last of the three great Athenian tragedians, known for his innovative portrayals of psychological realism and sympathetic depictions of women, slaves, and outcasts. Of his approximately 92 plays, 18 survive — more than any other ancient Greek playwright — including Medea, The Bacchae, and Electra. His work was controversial in his time but enormously influential on later Roman and Western drama.
