Ferdinand Foch
Ferdinand Foch was appointed Supreme Allied Commander in March 1918 following the German Spring Offensive, the first time all Allied forces on the Western Front came under unified command. He coordinated the Hundred Days Offensive that shattered the German army and ended the war on 11 November 1918. Of the Versailles Treaty he said prophetically: "This is not a peace. It is an armistice for twenty years."
