Ferdinand I of Romania

King of Romania (1914–1927) who in August 1916 brought Romania into the First World War on the Allied side; after temporary occupation of Bucharest, Romanian forces rallied and the Paris Peace Conference awarded Romania Transylvania, Bessarabia, and Bukovina, nearly tripling the country's territory to create Greater Romania.
