Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel
Wilhelm Keitel served as Chief of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW), Germany's supreme military command, throughout the Second World War, and was closely involved in planning Operation Barbarossa and signing orders that facilitated war crimes on the Eastern Front. He signed Germany's unconditional surrender in May 1945 and was convicted at the Nuremberg trials of war crimes and crimes against humanity, executed by hanging in October 1946.
