Fritigern
Fritigern converted to Arian Christianity to gain Roman support. After mistreatment by Roman officials, he led the Gothic revolt that culminated at Adrianople — the worst Roman military defeat since Cannae. The battle is often seen as marking the beginning of Rome's inability to control its borders.
