Gaiseric (Geiseric)

King of the Vandals and Alans, one of the most formidable figures of the Migration Period. Led the Vandals from Hispania to North Africa in 429 CE, captured Carthage in 439 CE, sacked Rome in 455 CE, and dominated the western Mediterranean with his fleet for four decades. Died peacefully in 477 CE, having outlasted the Western Roman Empire itself.
