Gaius Suetonius Paulinus
Roman governor of Britain who was suppressing the druids at Anglesey when Boudicca's revolt broke out. Marched with remarkable speed to meet her. Selected a narrow defile flanked by forest to neutralise the Britons' numerical advantage; won a total victory. His subsequent harsh reprisals were reversed by the procurator Classicianus, who complained to Nero.
