General Omar Bradley

Omar Bradley commanded the US First Army during the D-Day landings and subsequent Normandy campaign in 1944, later rising to command the 12th Army Group, the largest body of American troops ever to serve under a single field commander. Known as 'the soldier's general' for his unpretentious style, he later became the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
