General Sir Ian Hamilton
Ian Hamilton commanded the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force at Gallipoli in 1915, overseeing the landings at Anzac Cove and Cape Helles that failed to break through Ottoman defenses. He was relieved of command in October 1915 after the campaign stalled into another costly stalemate, and never held another field command.
