George Bernard Shaw
George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) was an Irish playwright, critic, and polemicist who shaped 20th-century intellectual life. His plays including Man and Superman (1903), Pygmalion (1913), and Saint Joan (1923) combined social satire with philosophical provocation. His 1904 play John Bull's Other Island examined the failure of the Act of Union 1800 to produce genuine Anglo-Irish integration. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925.
