George IV
Flamboyant Prince Regent who became king in 1820, known for his extravagant lifestyle, patronage of arts and architecture, and disastrous marriage to Caroline of Brunswick. He commissioned the renovation of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Royal Pavilion at Brighton. His reign saw Catholic Emancipation in 1829, which he personally opposed but reluctantly granted assent.
