George V
Second son of Edward VII who presided over Britain through the First World War, during which he changed the royal family's name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor to distance it from Germany. He navigated the turbulent aftermath of war including Irish independence, the General Strike of 1926, and the Great Depression, becoming a reassuring father-figure through his Christmas radio broadcasts.
