Giuseppe Sacconi

Italian architect who won the 1884 competition to design the Altare della Patria (Vittoriano) in Rome, the national monument to Italian unification and to Vittorio Emanuele II. Its white Brescian marble and neoclassical grandeur became symbols of unified Italy.
