Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo
Nero's most successful general, who stabilised the Armenian frontier with Parthia by a settlement rather than a conquest — the Parthian candidate kept the throne but received his crown from Rome. Nero ordered him to kill himself in 67, the ordinary fate of a commander who became too plausible as an alternative.
