Gustav Stresemann
German Chancellor (1923) and Foreign Minister (1923–1929). Architect of Weimar Germany's brief stabilisation — the Dawes Plan, Locarno Treaties, and Germany's entry into the League of Nations. Nobel Peace Prize 1926. His death in October 1929, weeks before the Wall Street Crash, removed the most capable defender of the Weimar Republic.
