Henry I
Youngest son of William the Conqueror, nicknamed 'Beauclerc' for his scholarly learning, who consolidated Norman rule over England and Normandy. He issued the Charter of Liberties, a forerunner of Magna Carta, and reformed royal administration by developing an efficient bureaucracy.
