James Hargreaves

James Hargreaves invented the spinning jenny in 1764, a multi-spindle spinning frame that dramatically increased the output of cotton thread. Combined with Arkwright's water frame and Cartwright's power loom, the spinning jenny was a foundational machine of the British Industrial Revolution.
