James Wolfe

James Wolfe was a British Army general who achieved immortal fame at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759, where his daring night ascent of the cliffs outside Quebec secured Canada for Britain. Energetic and innovative, he was considered one of the most promising officers of his generation but had struggled throughout his career with poor health. He was struck by musket balls three times during the battle and died on the field moments after learning of the British victory.
