Jehoiachin
Jehoiachin was King of Judah who reigned for only three months before surrendering Jerusalem to Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon in 597 BCE, beginning the Babylonian captivity of the Jews. He was deported to Babylon along with thousands of Judean nobles, craftsmen, and soldiers, and was held there for decades under house arrest. He was eventually released from prison around 560 BCE by the Babylonian king Evil-Merodach and given a place of honor at the Babylonian court, a detail confirmed by Babylonian administrative tablets discovered in the 20th century.
