Jomo Kenyatta
Leader of Kenya's independence movement, imprisoned by the British during the Mau Mau Emergency, and first Prime Minister and President of independent Kenya (1963/1964). A founding figure of Kenyan nationhood who pursued reconciliation under the slogan 'Harambee' (pulling together).
