Jovian

Jovian was the Roman emperor whose brief reign of barely eight months in 363-364 had consequences that outlasted him by centuries. Chosen by the army to lead after Julian the Apostate was mortally wounded during the retreat from the failed Persian campaign of 363, he agreed to cede to Persia the strategically vital city of Nisibis along with fifteen other fortresses. The treaty provoked outrage in the Roman world. Jovian immediately reversed Julian's pagan revival, restoring Christianity to imperial favor. He died suddenly in Bithynia in February 364, possibly from asphyxiation caused by fumes from a charcoal brazier. He had reigned only seven months and eleven days.
