Karlheinz Brandenburg
Karlheinz Brandenburg is the principal inventor of the MP3 audio compression format, developed at the Fraunhofer Society in Erlangen between 1982 and 1989. The MP3 standard, released in 1993, triggered the digital music revolution and fundamentally disrupted the recorded music industry.
