Klemens von Metternich
Prince Metternich served as Austria's Foreign Minister and later Chancellor, becoming the dominant conservative statesman of 19th-century Europe. He orchestrated the Congress of Vienna in 1814-1815, crafting a balance-of-power system designed to preserve monarchical order and suppress liberal nationalism. His Metternich System shaped European politics for three decades until the revolutions of 1848.
