Leonardo da Vinci

The supreme Renaissance polymath. His notebooks anticipated helicopters, solar power, and anatomy centuries ahead of his time. As a painter he produced the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper — the two most studied images in Western art. He died at Amboise, France, in the service of King Francis I, having crossed paths with the very era of exploration his contemporary Columbus launched.
