Lise Meitner
Lise Meitner co-discovered nuclear fission with Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann and, with her nephew Otto Frisch, provided the theoretical explanation of the process in January 1939. Despite being denied the Nobel Prize, she is widely regarded as one of the most significant scientists of the 20th century.
