Louis VIII of France
Louis VIII, called 'the Lion,' briefly invaded England in 1216 at the invitation of rebel barons before withdrawing after King John's death. He led the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathar heresy in southern France, incorporating Languedoc into the royal domain. His short reign nonetheless significantly expanded French territory.
