Luís I of Portugal
Luís I was a cultured king and accomplished marine biologist who translated Shakespeare into Portuguese. His reign saw the rise of the Fontismo policy of infrastructure development and the expansion of constitutional rotativismo, but also growing republican and socialist movements.
