Maria II of Portugal
Maria II, known as 'The Good Mother' and 'The Educator', was the daughter of Pedro IV. After her uncle Miguel usurped the throne, she was restored by the Liberals in 1834. Her reign saw the consolidation of constitutional monarchy in Portugal despite bitter factional struggles.
