Matthew Boulton

English manufacturer and entrepreneur who partnered with James Watt at the Soho Manufactory in Birmingham, commercialising the steam engine from 1775. His famous boast — 'I sell here what all the world desires to have — power' — captures the industrial vision he brought to Watt's invention. A founding member of the Lunar Society of Birmingham.
