Menkaure (Mycerinus)
Menkaure (Mycerinus in Greek; Micerino in Italian) built the smallest of the three Giza pyramids, but his funerary complex produced some of the finest sculpture of the Old Kingdom — the triads now in the Cairo Museum showing Menkaure flanked by Hathor and a nome goddess are among the masterpieces of Egyptian art. Ancient tradition, recorded by Herodotus, remembered him as a just and pious king who reversed the harsh policies of his predecessors.
